Ares is the god of war. He is often depicted with a spear, helmet and circular shield - a common Greek soldier uniform. He is the son of the god Zeus and the goddess Hera. He is the father of Erotes, Phobos, Deimos, Phlegyas, Harmonia (the lovechild of Ares and Aphrodite), Adrestia, and many others. He is infamously known for this affair with his sister, Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty. As a god, he was not very popular among people nor his fellow Olympians. Ares was often treated poorly by his brothers and sisters and was humiliated multiple times by his own family in Olympus. There was a time where he was captured and held as a prisoner by the giants of Aloadai...

Although Ares was treated poorly, he always had the support of his daughters, the Amazons, who were all great warriors. He was a jealous lover and took matters intohis own hands, especially when it came to Aphrodite. In one instance, he disguised himself as a boar to kill Aphrodite’s lover Adonis. He also participated in an event to help his son in the battle between Heracles and Kyknos. Ares cares dearly for his own children and made that clear by murdering Halirrhothius who had committed the crime of forcing himself upon Ares’s daughter Alkippe. Ares was certainly the god of war, however, he complained a lot when it came to battle, and would moan at the smallest of injuries, as well as informing his father of every little issue caused by mortals or fellow gods. Despite this, he took part in many of the wars that encompassed the earth, including the battle of Troy - where he took the side of Aphrodite.
